There was a time I was successful on the outside, but quietly aching on the inside.
I had everything society told me would make me happy:
- A loving partner
- A master’s degree
- A job as a social worker helping others
- A steady paycheck
- A beautiful home
- Family and friends
I smiled on the outside, but deep inside I hungered for something more.

I didn’t even know what I wanted. I just knew I felt meh. Life was dull.
And in my secret fantasies (which I can’t believe I’m telling you now), I wanted wild, passionate s.e.x.
But I didn’t think that was important.
I thought I should just be grateful, work harder, and achieve more.
